The department of Environment, Real Estate and Urbanism at NGA works in strict interaction with other departments, with the purpose to ensure that the Client receives a full service of analysis, legal and tax planning as well as assistance in all real estate investment’s legal operations and structures.

NGA’s activity within this scope is not restricted to the preparatory and executory stages of projects, also ensuring top-quality assistance in administrative and litigation procedures.


NGA is aware of the increasing relevance that the rules of Environment Law have for the adequate planning and execution of real estate and industrial projects. NGA, therefore, offers its experience and expertise in this field, to guarantee the legal and regulatory compliance of our Clients’ projects, avoiding interruptions and unjustified delays in the execution of projects, as well as liabilities capable of charging the investors.

NGA seeks to offer the most efficient solutions for a better management of investment procedural stages, advising on the procedures for the attainment of licences and other environmental authorisations. Furthermore, NGA provides specialised assistance and follows-up, for instance environmental impact evaluation procedures, environmental incidences studies or attainment of water resource certificates. Lastly, NGA offers its Clients its team’s experience in rather specific subjects, such as renewable energies and exploitation of natural resources, as well as waste management and treatment.

NGA also represents its Clients in proceedings of administrative offences, civil liability and environmental litigation.

Real Estate

NGA has a team with a large experience within the scope of Real Estate Law, being qualified to assist our clients throughout all stages of their investment, regardless of the business area in which the same will be included, such as tourism, housing, services or rehabilitation.

Always working in collaboration with other departments, we have the necessary skills to advise our Clients on the structuring of their real estate investments, assisting them in the incorporation and management of companies and real estate investment funds, as well as in the negotiation and structuring of financings and respective guarantees.

Regarding real estate promotion, besides the assessment and management of the related environmental, tax and urbanistic issues, NGA assists their clients in the structuring of their real estate investment, providing them with the most profitable contractual, financial and tax solutions. Moreover, NGA is also actively involved in the negotiation and drafting of works contracts, joint-venture, consortium, and of Project Management, following their execution since the commencement of the works until final acceptance thereof and respective release of bank guarantees, also advising on the sale process.

In real estate transactions we are focused on ensuring that our Clients have an accurate knowledge of the real estate assets to be transferred, namely through due diligence procedures and advising on the negotiation and drafting of all type of contracts such as purchase and sale, exchange, right to build or use(direito de superficie), creation of guarantees, among others. In these transactions and working closely with the tax team, we provide clients with the best and most efficient tax consultancy and strategic planning of property transactions.

Within the scope of rentals and structuring of local accommodation transactions, NGA is also qualified to assist its Clients as to the solutions be adopted regarding contract drafting, negotiation and termination.

Lastly, NGA also offers its Clients advising on litigation matters related with any real estate transactions, relying on a large experience within this scope.


NGA is qualified to offer assistance in any urbanistic transaction, from its planning stage to the phase of its execution and inspection, also ensuring the preparation and follow-up of all necessary diligences to the restore of urbanistic legality.

At the planning and construction stages, NGA offers specialised services aiming to ensure the Client the compliance with all legal and regulatory rules, namely the compliance with the applicable urbanistic procedures. In this regard, NGA represents its Clients’ interest towards licensing and regulatory entities in all investment stages, seeking for solutions in agreement with the administrative entities.

Lastly, NGA has a large experience in the urbanistic and environmental pre-litigation and litigation scopes and in the execution of the several instruments of territorial management.
